About the maritime drifters

HUNG Ya-Chih 2016 taiwan Documentary color 22min Chinese DCP
Due to the shortage of labor, the fishing industry has imported Indonesian and Philippine workers into Taiwan since 1992. The unpredictable and unstable working model on the sea has caused disputes such as labor and health insurance, working hours and overtime pay. How can we adjust he Labor Standards Act to truly protect foreign workers and employers' rights and benefits?

Director

HUNG Ya-Chih

As a female director, HUNG Ya-Chin is profoundly influenced by her Chinese Indonesian mother. Therefore, foreign spouses, foreign workers and gender are the issues which she has paid much attention to. This time, she would like to focus on the foreign fishermen and she hopes that more and more people can be concerned about the fishery industry and those foreign fishermen in Taiwan.
