H.-The Necessity of Hustle and Bustle

Yu-Mei HSIUNG 2009 Taiwan Documentary color 31min Mandarin Digi Beta
In an unsettling age, constantly changing values create a “time difference” that impacts all persons, events and objects in schools. This shakes the foundations on which the roles of “teacher” and “pupil” are set.
“H” is for hormones, and “hustle and bustle” is the epitome of school life. Faced simultaneously with the students’ rebellious behavior and their turmoil brought on by puberty, the director’s mentality was also chaotic. Playful schoolyard graffiti, words written in correction fluid, unstoppable motions and quick interchanging images contrast strongly with serious slogans, statues and that lead up to a past conflict between teacher and pupils.
