Cindy Sherman creates innovative work that explores the place of women in society. In her self-portrait photographs, she assumes the roles of fictitious characters - housewives, vamps, victims - to explore the numerous roles women play. This documentary
includes a rare interview with Sherman at the time of her first exhibition in 1981.

Paul TSCHINKEL

Painter Paul TSCHINKEL turned to video as and art form in the early 1970s, presenting his work in galleries and on cable television. In 1979, he directed a 61-episode documentary series on contemporary artists and, in 2006, he completed his first feature length documentary on photographer Robert Mapplethorpe.
