The Boxing Ladies is a story of three teenage Muslim sisters who are national level boxers and their struggle to be a part of the society and make their mark. Zainab, the eldest of the three, cooks, takes care of the house, and also contributes to the family expenditure sewing and making mobile covers every day. Bushra, the middle sister dropped out of school due to financial pressure and found a job. Sughra, the youngest and also the rebel of the family is the most determined about her boxing career. Dropping out of school, she re-joined four years later paying her fees with her own hard earned money. This is a story of these three incredible sisters and their determination to represent the country in the field of boxing. It is the celebration of women and the sports and their journey and their struggles.

Anusha NANDAKUMAR

Anusha NANDAKUMAR is currently pursuing screenplay writing and film direction from Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata. She is the recipient of the French Embassy Scholarship in 2008 and 2009. She was selected to be part of the filmmaking program in La Femis, Paris in 2009. In 2010, her short documentary Still Life was awarded at Film Expo Asia, Bangkok.
