A young woman is on her way to visit her mother in the hospital. However, the trains have stopped running, her cell phone is not working underground. She’s forced to use a public telephone to share her last words with her dying mother. At the same time three disorderly teen girls are running through the underground. A jazz musician on the subway platform hears the noise and confusion. The distraught young woman on the telephone begins singing a spiritual song to her dying mother. This quiets the troublesome young girls. The jazz musician picks up on the young woman’s song and begins to improvise with his saxophone. A Jewish Cantor that just arrived on the platform also begins singing along with her.
