Program

A-Feng

Shang-Yi CHOU 2009 Taiwan Fiction b/w 10min Mandarin, Taiwanese Digi Beta
A-Feng depicts the sex workers who live in the bottom of society without savings and the support from the family.
The dark alleys in the red-light district where they worked are the places for men to release their pressure. One day, A-Feng, a sex worker, meets an innocent little boy by chance. Their friendship is not usual under the social values. The boy gives A-Feng a candy before leaving. The candy is the loss of concern in this metropolitan and hustle and bustle society. The video explores the paradox of existence, morality, and the social alienation in a gentle and realistic way. Using no dialogues, it speaks for the often silent sex workers in modern capitalist society and hopes to get more understanding and tolerance of sex workers from the public.
