Maya Gallus is an award-winning director, writer and producer whose work frequently explores “the female gaze” through the lens of gender and identity, including“Erotica: A Journey into Female Sexuality”(1997), a provocative, pioneering film about women's desire and“Girl Inside”(2007), an intimate, early transgender portrait. Gallus formed Red Queen Productions in 2003 with Justine Pimlott to make films that challenge stereotypes about women and LGBTQ people. Their numerous films include“Punch Like a Girl”(2003), and“Derby Crazy Love”(2013). Red Queen films have been characterized as “stories that humanize and bring into the mainstream often-derided or marginalized experiences.” Currently, Gallus is at work on two documentaries:“The Heat” and“A Female Gaze”.
