    The director received a ring from her granny when she left the hometown, Beigang, as a teenager. By this ring, the granny whishes that Mazu might bless her granddaughter all the time. Almost two decades later, the director went back to see her granny to understand her story and her religious belief.

    Hsiu-Yi HUANG was born in Yunlin, 1979. She completed an MFA degree in the Graduate Institute of Sound and Image Studies in Documentary from Tainan National University of the Arts. He now works as a free-lance filmmaker.
