Julie DASH 2002 USA Fiction color 94min English Digi Beta
Rosa MCCAULE was raised in the Deep South. After she grew up, Rosa marries a handsome barber named Raymond, who intends to make her life as happy as possible. Yet in spite of his efforts, Rosa is forced to cope with many degrading and humiliating situations, particularly several failed attempts at registering to vote. Rosa goes to work for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People as a secretary. On the organization’s behalf, she raises questions on the position of Black people in society and teaches students to stand up for their legal and God given rights.
In 1955, Rosa PARKS creates the spark that ignites the modern Civil Rights Movement by refusing to comply when the bus driver demands that Black passengers clear the row for a White man.
