    In the conservative society of Taiwan during the fifties, the price of forbidden love is extremely high. Nevertheless, Mr. and Mrs. Tian paid it without any regret. Sixteen years older than his wife, Mr. Tian is a doctor. He opened his vision and became a revolutionist while he was in Tokyo, Japan. He strongly doubts the policy of ID card under the atmosphere of repressive state apparatuses; he concerns with human rights and aids the political refugees regardless of his own security. He was also a family doctor of the democratic pioneers in Taiwan, though he regretted that he did not be put in the prison by KMT by this choice. He knew that was not “politically democratic” enough.
    There was an eighteen-year-old senior high graduate who loves this man. Even before her father had threatened that Mr. Tian might get some serious trouble if they insist on the relationship, a life-long love had already seared itself onto Mrs. Tian’s heart. They would rather die if they were separated, no matter how others scold them...Mrs. Tian nurses her ninety-two-year-old husband, happily and persistently until now. They are ordinary people living in a significant era, and this relationship leaves an imprint on the late history of feminism.

    Graduated from UK Sheffield University. Master of film-making. Yen and Chuang are in the image work for more than 15 years, always time-consuming, try to take each film into the creation, so only a little bit of works. Currently, more well-known and screening on the cinema are documentary film “Let it be” and “Hand in hand”. Because of the “Let it be” was selected as "100 Greatest Chinese-language Films " , we two also rank one of the “50 Greatest Chinese-language Film Directors” including the mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong area.
