Looking for Asian Woman

Sophie BREDIER 2008 France Documentary color 80min French Digi Beta
Geisha or schoolgirl, warrior or Lolita, the Asian women have continually fascinated Westerners. But what lies behind this profusion of occasionally opposing and contradictory images?
Sophie BREDIER, of Korean origin but with a French background, investigates the different representations of Asian women in art and our collective imagination by going to meet artists such as Jean-Paul GOUDE, Christophe GANS, Romain SLOCOMBE, Setsuko BALTHUS, etc...
A journey along the pathways of artistic creation and an exploration of the fantasies centred on the Asian woman, the film moves towards the identification of an imaginary woman and of what we project onto her.
