The story of Nalu and Ruben examines the limits between tenderness and duty, affection and eroticism, private and public. Nalu is a teenager who needs to take care of her blind father after the death of her grandmother. Nalu spends her time between a new love, the discover of her sexuality, the heavy responsibilities with her father. When Ruben realizes his 16-year- old daughter is becoming a woman, and when Rosario, an attractive 36-year-old Uruguayan woman starts to be present in their lives, a disturbing proximity arises between this atypical family. The conflicts and the ambiguous feelings that come from their forced relationship change. The role Ruben is played by Marat Descartes, one the most important actors of the new Brazilian cinema.

Director

Cristiane OLIVEIRA

Born in Porto Alegre, Cristiane Oliveira started her career as filmmaker with the shorts. Messalina was selected to over 20 festivals across the world and has won 13 awards. Her first feature won the VFF Talent Highlight at the Berlinale's Talent Project Market and was selected to the Produire au Sud workshop (at Festival des 3 Continents, Nantes, France). She has worked as assistant director, writer and producer as well.
