    Claudia von Alemann’s provocative debut film ambitiously envisions a cinematic search for a feminist approach to the feminist past. A former historian, fascinated by the diary kept by the 19th-century socialist and feminist writer Flora Tristan, leaves her husband and child behind to roam the city of Lyon, where she refuses the traditional way of “looking” at history in the hope of finding meaningful traces of Tristan and gets caught up in a complex, multi-layered pattern of reverberations.
