In 1962, as Algeria gained independence, many Pied-Noirs, including Dominique CABRERA’s family, were forced to return to France. That same year, Chris MARKER filmed La Jetée. Decades later, one of her cousins spots what appears to be himself in the film’s fifth shot, prompting her to investigate. Through interviews and archival clues, she transforms La Jetée into a portal where memory, history, and cinema converge. As images spark recollections, a meditative dialogue with MARKER takes shape, reflecting on cinema’s power to make an instant eternal.
