    In February 2022, Ukrainian filmmaker Alisa KOVALENKO joined the army, leaving her 5-year-old son behind. What began as a personal vow becomes a powerful war diary: intimate videos and letters to her son capture both the chaos of war and enduring human bonds. Her first-person documentary reflects on motherhood, sacrifice, and the lives—both surviving and lost—of those fighting for a peaceful future.

    An award-winning documentary filmmaker and member of the European Film Academy based in Kyiv. In 2022, she joined the Ukrainian Volunteer Army to defend her country under Russia’s armed aggression.
