    In 2018, progressive writer Jumana ran for parliament to challenge corrupt oligarchy but lost due to vote fraud. The next year, a revolution sparked by government incompetence saw young artist Perla Joe become the new voice. Meanwhile, veteran Georges, nostalgic for his past war hero glory, dismissed the reform calls. These three, from different generations, all love Lebanon but in different ways. As their homeland teeters, will they find hope or loss?

    Lebanese director born in 1983. EL HAJJ’s debut feature documentary A Time to Rest premiered at Visions du Réel in 2015. Diaries from Lebanon is her second feature documentary. She’s a founding member of Rawiyat, a collective of women filmmakers from the Arab world.
