    In the mountains of Pakistan lives a Pashtun family headed by an old patriarch married to a much younger woman, Rakhi. They have a ten-year-old daughter, Zainab. One day, Rakhi's worst fear comes true as the father breaks the news that he has given away his daughter to a powerful tribal leader in marriage to settle a bloody feud. On the morning of Zainab's wedding day, Rakhi pulls off a daring escape with her daughter, and begins her journey into the unknown. On the road, Rakhi and Zainab meet a truck driver, Sohail, who offers them a ride to the
    next stop. As Rakhi, Sohail and Zainab continue their journey together, their destinies now entwined. Carefully dodging the fearsome, far-reaching influence of the tribal leader, the trio embarks on an epic journey through the sweeping landscape of Pakistan where the search for freedom and love comes with a price.

    Afia NATHANIEL

    Born in Quetta, Pakistan, and grew up in Lahore, Afia NATHANIEL is now based in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Columbia University's Film Directing program, where she directed several short films. Daughter is her debut feature that is based on a true story. She has also worked for an international women's non-profit, the World YWCA and given keynote addresses on the issue of violence against women and the role of artists as agents of change.
