The Day Iceland Stood Still

Pamela HOGAN 2024 Iceland, USA b/w & color 71min DCP
On one extraordinary day in 1975, 90% of Icelandic women walked off the job and out of their homes. Refusing to work, cook, or care for children, they brought the country to a standstill.. The Day Iceland Stood Still captures this bold, subversive, and unexpectedly funny moment through the voices of the women who lived it. Blending firsthand stories, vivid animation, and archival footage, the film is a powerful celebration of civic awakening and the transformative force of collective action.
