Born in Taipei, Taiwan, in 1975, Huang Xi graduated from the Tisch School of the Arts in New York University. She had co-worked with Filmmaker Hou Hsiao-hsien on Goodbye South Goodbye and The Assassin. Missing Johnny is her directorial debut.
