Breaking the Silence

Rosa Martha FERNÁNDEZ 1979 Mexico Documentary b/w 36min DCP
Mixing fiction and documentary, the film includes testimonies about two raped women and the alleged rapist, while offering a reflection on the violence linked to sexual assault beyond rape, such as the collusion of the ecclesiastical institution, as well as social and family discrimination suffered by those affected.

Rosa Martha FERNÁNDEZ

Considered one of the pioneering female filmmakers of Mexican cinema and a participant in militant filmmaking during the 70s, she founded the Cine Mujer along with other CUEC students, and has since worked as filmmaker, editor, screenwriter, and producer.
