Women’s Things

Rosa Martha FERNÁNDEZ 1978 Mexico Documentary b/w 42min DCP
A young sociology student has an unintended pregnancy and is subjected to the humiliation of an incompetent doctor. She ends up being hospitalized due to complications and there she finds the testimony of other women who had abortions under unsafe conditions. Bold and unflinching, this remarkable debut work of the collective was one of the first films in the country to explicitly address this taboo issue.
