Ama Gloria

Six-year-old Cléo loves her nanny Gloria more than anything. One day, Gloria left Paris and returned to Cape Verde to care for her family. After losing her beloved nanny, Cléo visited Gloria for their last summer vacation together. It is a bittersweet coming-of-age film filled with laughter and tears. The director delicately portrays the view of a white girl from a middle-class family, depicting her complex feelings of considering the nanny as a family but unable to truly become one. It presents issues such as race, class, and caregiving relationships through a child's perspective, which leads the audience to rediscover the meaning of home and family.
