A Chinese folk saying goes, "A poor couple is a miserable couple". Young couples may be madly in love, but still have to face the reality of life. Prostitution of the wife seems to be the fastest way to solve the financial problem of the poor couple. Alcohol helps to alleviate the pressure and to blur the line between a friendly smile and a cruel ridicule. Unable to to face the reality of poverty, the wife chooses to leave her husband and her child.
People always tend to lament the failure of a marriage, but forget how lonely and helpless the children might feel and the how much negligence they have to undergo when growing up. All the imitations and searching are just because they long for what they will never get.
