    In the Mirror of Maya Deren

    The feature-length documentary In the Mirror of Maya Deren reconstructs the exciting biography of the legendary artist Maya Deren. Born in Kiev 1917, she was to become a central figure of the American avant-garde after WWII. Best known for her ground-breaking work in experimental film, she was highly active in various other political and cultural fields -a poet, a dancer and, above all, a renown ethnographer and practicing Voodoo devotee. Following the traces of this important woman pioneer of the 20th century, the film visits the places and people of her life drawing the picture of a modern myth.

    Born 1965 in Vienna. University of Vienna-Theatre Studies and German Philology. Film and TV Academy (FAMU) Prague - Camera and Documentary Directing. 1995 Masters Degree in Documentary Directing. Experimental photography and film work (Super 8, 16mm and video). 1990 Carl Meyer script award for Moon of Cyan with Reinhard Jud in Austria. 1994 founded MINA FILM production in Prague. 1997 Fellow of the Art Academy of Media in Cologne.
