Filmmaker Lee Yanor presents an impressionistic profile of Pina Bausch, the reigning queen of German experimental dance theater. Filmed during one week in Paris, Coffee with Pina profiles the charismatic choreographer in the rehearsal studio and in the more intimate and reflective environment of a Parisian cafe.Colorful excerpts from a 2002 stage performance capture the vibrant, sensual and passionate spirit for which her theater pieces are renowned around the world.

Lee Yanor

Lee Yanor was born in Haifa in 1963. From 1984 to 1988, she studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem, Israel, where she earned a B.F.A. in Photography. She also studied photography in 1986 at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. In 1990, Lee received a scholarship, sponsored by the French Embassy in Tel-Aviv, Israel, to study in Paris VIII University. In 1991, Lee was the Artist in Residence at Villa Arson, Nice, France. From 1991 to 1993, she studied plastic arts at the Paris VIII University.
