The first installment in Byun Young-joo's trilogy documenting the past and present lives of Korean women and girls who were forced to work in Japanese military brothels during World War Two.

Byun Young-Joo

Byun Young-Joo was born in 1966 and graduated from the Department of Law, Ewha Women's University in 1989. Dir.Byun is one of the most important documentary film directors in Korea and is focused on human rights and women issuses. Her most well known works are so called "Trilogy of Korean Comfort Women": The Murmuring, Habitual Sadness, and My Own Breathing. Her recent work, Arodor is her feature debut. She is currently preparing her 2nd festure.
