    In order to avoid a forced marriage, 19-year-old Hala finds shelter across the Euphrates at a Kurdish Women’s Protection Unit. Learning how to fight, she gets inspired by the promise of freeing more women. She finds herself ready to fulfill the dream—to free her sisters from their father. This documentary is KILIAN's own reflections on being a feminist and cultural outsider when the term “militant feminism” is understood quite literally.

    A director, cinematographer, and producer, KILIAN lived in the Northeast Syria for over one year shooting her documentary feature debut The Other Side of the River. She currently lives and works between Kassel and Berlin and manages her own production company, Pink Shadow Films.
