    Kurdwin AYUB 2022 Austria color 88min Kurdish, German DCP
    In a moment of ordinary madness, three teenage girls decide to shoot a burqa music video. They soon become famous, especially among Kurdish Muslims. Yesmin, the only one who is Kurdish, begins to distance herself from her culture. Inspired by true events and the director's personal stories, Sonne is a film about young people caught between social media, self-discovery, gender, and refugee issues. It is a story about rebellious young women.

    Born in Iraq in 1990, AYUB currently works as a filmmaker and screenwriter in Vienna, Austria. Her first documentary feature Paradise! Paradise! won the Best Cinematography at the 2016 Diagonale. Her first feature Sonne won the Best First Feature Award at the 2022 Berlinale.
