    A personal documentary that portrays the survival power of female sensuality, Soft Fiction combines the documentary approach with a sensuous lyrical expressionism. Chick STRAND focuses her camera on people talking about their own experience, capturing subtle nuances in facial expressions and gestures. It evokes the soft line between truth and fiction and suggests the idea of softcore fiction, which is appropriate to the film's erotic content and style.

    An American experimental filmmaker, STRAND is a pioneer in women's experimental cinema. Her films explore notions of objective reality and philosophical questions of the theory of the mind, and tackle themes of gender and sexuality in an attempt to deconstruct unequal power relations.
