    Voices of Orchid Island

    Through the interviews from three identities—the Tao people of Orchid Island, a Bunun doctor based at the medical centre, and a Han anthropologist, Voices of Orchid Island shows disparate views as they speak of their way of life and the threat of its destruction. It reflects the complex relationships the people of Orchid Island face towards the past and the future.

    Director

    HU Tai-Li

    An anthropologist, curator, writer, professor and a documentary filmmaker. HU was a founding member of Taiwan International Ethnographic FF. She was a research fellow at the Institute of Ethnology, Academia Sinica, and a board member of Taiwan Women's Film Association. Her works centre on themes of women, indigenous people, veterans, and the land, and have won numerous awards worldwide.
