Try to Remember

Zabou Breitman 2001 France Fiction color 110min French 35 mm
Claire is aged thirty or so and has been struck by lightning while out walking. Is this really the cause of her memory problems? Admitted to the “Ecureils” mnemonic clinic, she gradually finds her place in a micro-society where the comic or pathetic patients are always touching. All of them suffer from serious or slight amnesia with pathological or traumatic origins. Claire meets Philippe, a man who has “forgotten” the car accident that caused the death of his wife and son. An increasingly intense and carnal passion arises between these two young people, encouraged by the clinic’s head doctor. Thanks to Claire, Philippe recovers a taste for love…and life. Meanwhile, she sinks deeper and deeper into oblivion, despite Philippe's support. Will she be able to emerge from the woods one day, like "Alice in Wonderland"?
