Beirut, Never Again

Jocelyne SAAB 1976 Lebanon color 35min DCP
With a poetic voiceover written by the Lebanese writer and painter Etel ADNAN, this film would become the first entry in SAAB's "Beirut trilogy." Filmed at dawn when the cannons were silent, the film documents the devastation suffered by her beloved city, then the residue of daily activities, suddenly surreal in this nightmarish landscape. The visual power developed here developed brings cinema back to its essence: its descriptive energy.

◎This film is the first from The Beirut Trilogy, screening with the second and the third
