In Los Angeles, French woman Emilie has just parted with her lover. She is seeking a residence for herself and her 8-year-old son, Martin. She fills the house with furniture gathered from the streets. Her anxiety and uncanny feelings are present through the people she observes──instead of through herself. She leads a life of consistent exiles.

Director

Agnès VARDA

Born in 1928 in Brussels, Belgium, she first worked as a photographical reporter. She stepped into filmmaking with her first feature La Pointe Courte, and then kept making films for more than 40 years. She is known as a leader of the French New Waves and one of the most important female directors in the world.
