Lynne Stopkewich 2002 Canada Fiction color 22min Betacam
High school senior Jeanette finds herself struggling to figure out her Identity. One of the most popular girls in school, Jeanette has caught the eye of the most popular boy, Eric. On one of their first encounters, Jeanette loses herself in Fantasy, picturing Eric as a woman. Confused and frightened by these feelings, Jeanette conceals these "weird" desires from her best friend, Marnie. She soon befriends Zachary, a boy unlike the others she has encountered, to conceal her growing attraction to Marnie. Zachary and "J" understand one another in a way no one else can. Slowly, they embark on an exploration that allows them to know a deeper part of themselves.

Director

Lynne Stopkewich

Lynne Stopkewich, Director, garners acclaim whenever she helms a project. Her latest, Lilith on Top, chronicles the wildly popular annual Lilith Fair musical event. This documentary is already drawing rave reviews, nothing new for Stopkewich, whose 1997 feature film Kissed attracted as many kudos as it did controversy. The film played at dozens of international festivals, including Sundance and Toronto, and competed in the Cannes Director's Fortnight that same year. It also won a slew of Genie Award nominations. Kissed, co-written, co-produced and co-edited by her as well, played theatrically worldwide and has since been released on video. Stopkewich's other directing credits include Suspicious River and the shorts Soul Tone Poem, The Flipped Wig and The $3 Wash&Set. She also co-wrote and directed the Bliss episode "Some Distinguishing Mark."
