Each red packet cabaret in the Hsimenting Taipei was filled with songs and dances extolling the good times. Unlike other splendid singers, Wu Yu-Chi, the "Singer of Queen Kindness" performing at Mandarin Melodies, usually put on light and simple makeup. Most of her time and earnings were spent on raising stray dogs. When not engaged in singing or socializing with her patrons, she would garner waste cardboard boxes for some little extra income or box up leftovers from workplace to feed her dogs. She never complained about being tired, but only about being too busy, claiming that she never had enough time. She simply hoped to take good care of her dogs. There was on deep regret inside her heart, which was that she couldn't look after her aged father in Hsin-Chu. One day she finally returned home to visit her dad and daughter whom she had not seen for more than one year. During her visit, her daughter told her to treat herself well while her dad, as usual, told her to give up those dogs......
