TSENG Wen-Chen 2002 Taiwan Documentary color 56min Chinese 16mm/Betacam
During the White Terror Era in the 50's, many patriotic young men were imprisoned or executed on the charge of espionage, Communist or treason by the authorities. Tens of thousands of people were victimized, and Hsu Chin-Yu was one of them. She was an adopted daughter, a female worker at the age of fourteen, an employee in the post office at twenty-four. Her participation in the book club had awaken her from ignorance, led her to the path of labor movement in return for 15 years in jail without fair trials, and finally changed her entire life.

Now she is eighty years old. We saw perseverance and fruitfulness throughout her life as a Taiwanese woman. Being an adopted child, worker, political prisoner, wife and owner of a shop of preserved eggs, she has been extremely persistent and studious. Her multiple roles and unfailing vitality have lasted for almost a century.
