A short stusy of the relationship between words and meaning. The twelve words-- Cinema is the history of men filming women-are to alter and conrrupt the original meaning of the statement. An exploration and deconstrction of the notion of "truth" as contained in both image and language, this work aims to highlight the contrived nature of every filmed image.

Janet Merewether

Janet Merewether is a writer/director and curation, and being a designer of motion graphics and film titles sequences for feature film, documentary , and broadcast. Her short film and videos, including Cheap Blonde and Contemporary Case Studies, have been screened internationally in the 2001 New York Film Festival, and her design work as has featured in award winning feature films such as Short Before the Movie screened at the New Director/New Films festival at MoMA and Lincoln Center, New York in 2003. Retrospectives of her work have been screened at the Arsenal Cinema Berlin, 2002, Boston Cinematheque, 2002, and the Seoul Women's Film Festival Korea, 2003.
