No Mercy No Future

Helma Sanders-Brahms 1981 Germany color 110min German DCP
This film was not scripted but improvised as the actors went along. It chronicles a limited time period from the life of a schizophrenic woman whose activites are divided between the bed and trying to commit suicide. She comes from a wealthy family and is never given a real chance at psychotherapy or medical care, let alone medication. Instead she drifts from a Jesus commune to marriage registration office , all the while looking for a lover who is Jesus incranate. Her behavior is based on insanity and serves as an excuse to show multiple, explicit scenes of sex and bloodletting that certain viewers would find offensive.
