Those days when we were young

A-yue found that her new husband was having nightmares every night, getting together with friends to distribute anti-CHIANG Kai-shek flyers, and listening to communist broadcasts of the Cultural Revolution. The two eventually got divorce. The extremely beautiful scenery and the refreshing images of old alleys make a contrast to the darkness of the character’s plotting and intrigues. Furthermore, using window frames to symbolize how ordinary people were constrained by the space and era they were in, the film precisely captures the crisis brought about by the White Terror and its sense of repression.
