活躍於1970至1980年代的編劇、導演。作品跨越文藝、動作、社會犯罪等不同類型，為涉足台灣「社會寫實片」唯一女導演，知名作品包括《小葫蘆》、《瘋狂女煞星》、《冷眼殺機》、《金門女兵》等。1998年以紀錄片《阿媽的秘密—台籍「慰安婦」的故事》獲第35屆金馬獎最佳紀錄片殊榮。
